RefugeeOne’s Wellness Program assists refugees of all ages with mental and physical health needs by providing culturally and linguistically sensitive mental health and medical case management services. Funding for the Wellness Program comes exclusively through generous donors and foundations who believe in and support the work the program does.
After spending years in refugee camps, many refugees enter our doors suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety, and other conditions resulting from trauma. Therapy can enable refugees to instigate positive change for themselves, their families, and their community. RefugeeOne helps refugees overcome trauma, improve their health, and lead fulfilling lives.

Our therapeutic services are available to individuals age 4 and older and include:
Clinical Services
For refugees with complex medical needs, RefugeeOne serves as a liaison between the U.S. healthcare system and refugees by connecting those in need of medical care with appropriate treatment. RefugeeOne equips refugees to manage the medical needs of their entire families and to attain the health needed to obtain jobs.
Home Visitation
These services provide targeted assistance to pregnant refugees and mothers with children ages 0-3, helping them build parenting skills, support early childhood development, and prepare their children to be school-ready. Staff use the Baby TALK early childhood intervention curriculum.
Clinical Services
- After the initial adjustment period (approximately 30-45 days), all newly arriving refugee adults complete a mental health screening. Staff review results to determine the treatments provided by RefugeeOne or make referrals to medical centers for more intensive interventions.
- Based on the client’s needs and level of comfort, a client may be referred to individual or group therapy with a licensed, trained therapist. A trained interpreter is provided if needed. The number of sessions allotted to each client is based on need and periodic evaluations with the clinician.
- Psychiatric services are provided by an onsite psychiatrist or referral partners for clients needing a higher level of support.
- Psychoeducation seminars bring education and awareness to clients about effective prevention strategies and offer support for good mental health.
