Dear Friends,
 
It’s easy to feel powerless when faced with the scale of the current refugee crisis. This is an opportunity to take a personal stand and tell the world that the lives of the world’s most vulnerable matter to you. We invite you to join us in sponsoring a refugee family who will be arriving in Chicago within the next few months.
 
We are working with the Chicago-based agency RefugeeOne to raise $8,000 for an incoming family by March 15. Your tax deductible donation will help the family with rent, utilities, and expenses for their first months in Chicago.
 
As co-sponsors, we have also agreed to help set up the family’s apartment, greet the family at the airport, cook them their first meal, stock their pantry with foods familiar to their culture, and build social bonds with them as they acclimate to their new community. Money raised beyond the $8,000 will go toward furnishing the family’s new apartment.
 
We don't yet know what family will be assigned to us. Currently, RefugeeOne is resettling refugees from many different countries including Afghanistan, Burma, Congo, Ethiopia, Iraq, and Syria. Anyone who donates can choose to receive updates to learn more about our sponsorship progress.

There are more than 21 million refugees in the world!

The U.S. is expected to take 110,000 refugees this year.

RefugeeOne is expected to resettle more than 900 refugees this year.  

Refugees come from many countries around the world such as Burma, Iraq, Bhutan, The Democratic Republic of Congo, Somalia, Sudan, South Sudan, Syria, Ethiopia,  and Afghanistan.
