Refugees spend years, often decades, searching for a safe place to call home before coming to Chicago. This year, their challenges were compounded by continued federal attacks against the resettlement program and the onset of COVID-19. But thanks to your support, refugees weren’t left to face these obstacles alone.
Words cannot express our gratitude to each of you—the generous donors, volunteers, and advocates who lightened the load during a very challenging year. |

Annual Report Fiscal Year 2018
For decades, refugee resettlement has been a proud American tradition. Today, more than 68.5 million people have been forced from their homes worldwide. Meanwhile, the United States has steadily reduced the number of refugees entering the country. Despite these challenges, you chose to give. You gave of your time, talents, and resources, helping us serve refugees for longer and in more creative ways. Thank you for being a source of that strength.

Annual Report Fiscal Year 2017
Throughout RefugeeOne's history, never has there been one like this. Thankfully, you were there with us through it all. Together, we helped refugees build the foundation for flourishing, integrated lives in the U.S. And when the federal resettlement program slowed down, you helped us pick up speed to offer programs that will ensure refugees succeed. Like the refugees we serve, RefugeeOne is resilient. We are, thanks to you.

Today, during the worst refugee crisis in recent history, we are grateful to you for welcoming refugees fleeing war, terror, and persecution to Chicago. After rigorous screenings, refugees come here to learn English, find jobs, and help their children attain brighter futures. You make that possible. As a RefugeeOne donor, volunteer, or co-sponsor, you help these resilient people rebuild their lives.

Annual Report Fiscal Year 2014
Our story is about the people whom we serve, like Indra, a Bhutanese refugee who proudly achieved the American dream after only five years in the U.S. Our story is about Aminata from Liberia and her 11-year-old granddaughter, Mamayan, who is excelling in school. Our story is about the 447 refugees who arrived last year and the thousands of others we served during that time. And our story is about you, the donors and supporters who make our work possible.

Annual Report Fiscal Year 2013
Thomas lived what many in Burma would call a life of grace, even though he came from an ethnic minority and practiced a minority religion, Roman Catholicism. A simple request caused Thomas to become an “enemy” of the Communist junta, to be tortured and sent to a prison camp and, finally, flee for fear of his life. Said and Hodan met and fell in love in a refugee camp when they fled civil war in Somalia. Now that they have been resettled in the U.S., they are glad they can provide a better life for their children.
