			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Edward Wheatley is Professor of English at Loyola University. He served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Côte d’Ivoire, West Africa, and after returning to the U.S. he taught English for the Khmer Resettlement Project of Lutheran Social Services in Jacksonville, Florida. He earned his Ph. D. at the University of Virginia. He has been a Mellon Faculty Fellow at Harvard University, and he has received fellowships from such agencies as the National Endowment for the Humanities and the American Council of Learned Societies. He is the author of two books and numerous articles, and he has also served as a commentator on National Public Radio’s <em>All Things Considered</em>.</p>
