On Wednesday, March 14, RefugeeOne hosted an event about the Rohingya refugee crisis and how individuals can help. More than 120 people gathered to hear the personal accounts of a Rohingya refugee and individuals working to support them here and abroad.
Our goal for the evening was to increase awareness about the crisis and equip people to become advocates for the Rohingya and refugees everywhere.

There are two pieces of legislation in particular we're calling on Congress to pass. Both have been introduced with bi-partisan support and would pressure the Burmese government to stop the ongoing violence. The House bill is titled the Burma Act of 2017 (HR 4223) and its companion legislation in the Senate is called the Burma Human Rights and Freedom Act.
In addition to asking for their support on these two pieces of legislation, we're also asking Congress to pressure the Administration to pick up the pace of resettlement so the U.S. can welcome 45,000 refugees this year and to set the refugee admissions ceiling for next year at 75,000.
