The New Executive Order: Where Do We Go From Here?
Update: March 16, 2017
On the evening of March 15, just hours before the president’s new Executive Order was to go into effect, a federal judge issued a temporary restraining order blocking the order from being implemented nationwide. This ruling will allow RefugeeOne and other agencies to continue welcoming refugees fleeing persecution, terror, and war—something we believe to be a moral obligation during the worst humanitarian crisis of our time.
Just as the first rendition, the revised order remains discriminatory, misguided, and unconstitutional. RefugeeOne calls on our elected representatives, including President Trump and his Administration, to do everything in their power to fully rescind this dangerous Executive Order. We will continue to stand with all refugees—both those who are already here, and those yet to come. We call upon our volunteers, allies, and supporters to assist in carrying out this important work.

Dear RefugeeOne supporters, This week, under the guise of national security, the White House issued a new Executive Order halting refugee resettlement entirely for 4 months. Even more importantly, it reduced the number of refugees annually admitted into the U.S. from 110,000 to a mere 50,000 people—the lowest ceiling in 35 years. We hear about the global refugee crisis every day—from the media, our families, and friends—and it is truly unbelievable. Nearly 1 in 100 people worldwide have been driven from their homes. More than 23 million refugees—half of them children—are fleeing the terror we see unfolding around the world. |
We cannot forget who these numbers represent. They are families, children, and the most vulnerable among us—and they need our help. In light of this Executive Order and the record number of refugees RefugeeOne welcomed in recent months, we ask for your financial support today to:
With your financial support, we will assist the record number of refugees we’ve welcomed in recent months and advocate for those still hoping to find safety in our great nation.

- Provide after-school programming and summer camp activities to help refugee youth catch up with their classmates ($850 per child)
- Help refugees overcome trauma by providing culturally-appropriate mental health care ($1,800 per refugee)
- Support our efforts to educate our communities and local leaders and advocate on behalf of all refugees
With your financial support, we will assist the record number of refugees we’ve welcomed in recent months and advocate for those still hoping to find safety in our great nation.
Thank you for your generosity and compassion. Above all, thank you for supporting refugees.
