REFUGEEONE HONORS MANPOWER INC. AT ANNUAL BENEFIT

Manpower Inc. to receive the RefugeeOne 2011 Many Voices, One Vision Recognition Award

CHICAGO – March 2, 2011, RefugeeOne has selected Manpower Inc. as the sole recipient of its 2011 Many Voices, One Vision Recognition Award. The award will be presented on March 18, at RefugeeOne’s annual benefit held at the Chicago Cultural Center. Manpower Inc.’s Anne Edmunds, Regional Director – Chicago will accept the award. The Many Voices, One Vision Award honors individuals, organizations or businesses that share RefugeeOne’s commitment and dedication to helping refugees become self-reliant.

“Manpower has been a significant partner not only to RefugeeOne but to other organizations worldwide that share our goal of helping refugees build self-reliance,” said Greg Wangerin, Executive Director, RefugeeOne. “We wholeheartedly commend Manpower’s social responsibility in reaching out to refugees, and laud their deliberate strategies of aligning refugees with the labor market,” he commented.

Imagine the challenge of finding a job in the 2011 economy as a newly arrived refugee. And yet refugees want nothing more than the opportunity to work hard and support themselves and their families. One of the many services RefugeeOne provides is the skill development and support needed for a refugee to find their first job in the U.S. That job in turn promotes self-respect and confidence that leads to hard work, commitment of purpose and self-reliance. RefugeeOne is not alone in the process, but relies upon companies like Manpower Inc. that appreciate the hard work and dedication of refugees, and are willing to partner to ensure smooth job transitions and success.

Past winners of RefugeeOne’s Many Voices, One Vision Award include: Dr. Edwin Silverman, Illinois State Refugee Coordinator; The Heartland Alliance for Human Needs and Human Rights; and the First Congregational Church of Western Springs, United Church of Christ.
